Three String Quartets

Spring Music

27 - 30 March 2025

Four young artists come to Mull in the last week of March to work on a programme of three string quartets. They present six concerts, four on Mull, one on Iona, and, for the first time, at Biggar Music Club in Lanarkshire.

The musicians study at the Royal Conservatoire of Music in Glasgow, and they have been drawn from those who were nominated by the Maxwell Quartet for Mendelssohn on Mull in September 2024.

The Maxwell Quartet have chosen participants at Spring Music, they have recommended a programme of three works, and will be supporting our performers during the week. The Maxwell Quartet are not on Mull, as they are in September, and our young artists will be working without direct mentoring.
Annabel Stevens - violin
Victor Pevernagie - violin
Lauren Azusa Jack - viola
Shakira Segalla Humbert - cello
This is our sixth Spring Music week, and, as always, we are grateful to Jenny and Tony Jeffree, of Suidhe Farm, Bunessan, for the donation of hospitality.

Although the musicians study at the same institution, they have not worked together as a quartet before the Spring Music week on Mull. Three days of intensive preparation, amid the stunning scenery of theRoss of Mull, with communal meals and a little fresh air now and then – the recipe for glorious music-making.
